Born and raised in Gainesville, Florida, Ms. Hawk earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Florida State University in 1983, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from Georgia State University in 1989. She earned her J.D. magna cum laude from Georgia State University College of Law in 1998, where she graduated number 8 in her class of 157. She is admitted to practice law in both Georgia and Florida.
